Sewing can be cool?
As many of you know and for those that don't, my mother is an amazing seamstress.

She made Tim and I an Irish Chain quilt for our wedding. She also hand made baby postage stamp blankets for each of my babies. My mom sews by hand, not machine. It is baffling to me the time and precise talent it takes to sew. Really not many people do this now-a-days. She is a wonderful artist!
These items are so precious to me and I have often thought that in the case of a fire I would take the following:
Husband, children, quilts, pictures.
That is it. Everything can be replaced except these treasured pieces.

Anyways, I have often thought that one day, one of my children might pick up this beautiful art.

But I never would have thought that my 'tweener, Skylar would think that it was cool.So recently after a trip home from our reunion in Utah, she picked up this talent.

I love it and wanted to share her current Christmas project.

When I asked her about the fact that she was learning to sew, and that I thought that is was a gift to have patience and detailed skill.
She simply stated, "Sewing's cool."
I sure think so.

  1. Cool quilts Heather. I met you once at your wedding reception in Mesa. Can you please have your husband shoot me an e-mail with a phone number, it's been way too long since we've talked.
    Thanks, Joey
